Friends of Hackley Library Annual Book Sale

Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, 10am - 5pm

Sunday, April 22, 12 pm - 3pm (bag sale - $3 a bag)

Please help support the Friends of Hackley Public Library by attending the 2018 Friends Connecting Community Book Sale! There will be thousands of books of all kinds, as well as several different kinds of media. Stop on by, and find some new treasures this weekend!

APRIL 21, SATURDAY 10:00

Assemble your battleships, shuffle your Uno cards, and lay out your Checkers set. We'll have all sorts of fun board games available for you to enjoy. Play an old classic or discover a new favorite!

GIRLS WHO CODE

APRIL 23, MONDAY 5:30-6:30

Did you know Hackley Public Library has a coding club just for girls? We are an official host site for the international girls Who Code organization. The club is open to students grade 6 and up. In the club, girls will master the basics of coding like loops, variables, functions, and conditionals to name a few. We will meet every Monday evening through the end of May.

Health Talk Cannabis and its Medical UsesHealth Talk: Cannabis and its Medical Uses

Join us at HPL for a Health Talk on Cannabis, and its history throughout time. Dr. Donald Crandall will give an overview of the medical and practical uses for Cannabis, as well as offering a look into the criminalization of Cannabis in our society. Dr. Crandall is able to give a thoughtful overview of this topic from his experiences in helping shape public health policy, as well as from his experiences as a physician in Muskegon.

Creative Writing at HPL

Do you enjoy creative writing? Are you inspired by innovative thoughts and ideas? Become a part of 'Left to Write', HPL’s own Creative Writing Group! Here you can share your own stories, participate in exercises, and meet other creative writers. This group will provide a low key atmosphere for writers of all experiences. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to tell your friends! 'Left to Write' will begin on Wednesday, April 25, from 4:00 - 5:00 PM, with Donna Iverson as facilitator. Bring your own paper, and your favorite pen! This is a bi-monthly group, meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 4:00 to 5:00 PM.

Book Buzz

3:30 - 4:30 pm, Wednesday, May 2

This isn’t your standard Book Club! Book Buzz is all about talking to other book lovers about your recently read and/or favorite books. Come ready to share, discuss, and to hear what your fellow readers enjoy. This laid back atmosphere allows for great chatter and everyone is welcome. Coffee included.
Book Buzz will meet the first Wednesday of each month, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
