Adult Summer Reading Starts
12:00 pm, Monday June 8
Starting June 8 Summer Reading for Adults returns! This year’s theme is Escape the Ordinary. Why let kids have all the fun? Join the Adult Summer Reading Program at Hackley Public Library. For each adult or teen book you read (or listen to: audio books count too!) you can put your name into a drawing. EBooks and Eaudiobooks count as well.
How does it work?
1. Sign up for the program at the Circulation Desk starting on Monday, June 8.
2. Read or listen to a book (or two or three!) from the Library (eBooks from our collection count!). We’ll have a special prize for everyone who submits at least one entry.
3. Fill out a form for each book, indicate the prize you want, and put it in the drawing jar. August 22nd will be the last day to enter.
5. At the end of August we will draw names for each prize and from all the entries for a grand prize.
Optional: You may write a short review of the book you read that we will post on our website. We will not include your name with the book review.
No reading logs, no minimum number of books to read. Read what you want and as often as you want. The more you read, the better your chances of winning! Sponsors will be announced soon.
Last year over 200 people participated in the program. Be part of the fun!
Brought to you through the generosity of the Friends of Hackley Library and all our wonderful sponsors.

Hiroya Tsukamoto-Guitarist
6:00 pm, Monday, June 15
Japanese guitarist and songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto takes us on an innovative, impressionistic journey filled with earthy, organic soundscapes that impart a mood of peace and tranquility.
Hiroya Tsukamoto is a guitarist and composer from Kyoto, Japan. He began playing banjo when he was thirteen years old. In 2000, he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the US. Since then, he has been performing internationally, including several appearances with his group at the Blue Note in New York, and he has released five albums
.
Hiroya developed a unique acoustic music which is described as "New folkloric music". He recently performed on Japanese National TV. (NHK-TV).
"...chops, passion and warmth. Zealously recommended!"
-Jazz Review.com
"Hiroya Tsukamoto takes us to an impressionistic journey"
-Boston Herald
"Hiroya Tsukamoto immediately impressed the audience with his technical prowess on the guitar. Then as the concert progressed, he also revealed himself to be a skilled songwriter, a poetic spirit, and an engaging story teller. With a stage presence that is both humble and confident, Hiroya is a generous performer who won every heart in the house." -Gordon Peery / Monadnock Center for History and Culture (Peterborough, NH)

"What an honor to have Hiroya Tsukamoto share his music with us. He has a gentle way about him, and it comes out in his music. His singing is experimental at times; using a percussive sound or whispers. He has developed his own guitar style (banjo inspired); a combination of fingerpicking, Spanish, folk, jazz, accompaniment to his voice. A poem of his was read by a woman in the audience, the words were passed out to everyone to read along; a nice way to involve the listeners." -D. Mellin / Brick Hill Concert (Orleans, MA) Vist http://www.hiroyatsukamoto.com/ for more information.
