Fall Storytimes

Ulysses Group

Shipwrecks with the staff from the Great Lakes Naval Museum

Underwater Robots Explore Great Lake Shipwrecks
Gary Reynolds and Mark Gleason of the USS Silversides Museum will share their 2012 expeditions to shipwrecks in the Straits of Mackinaw as well as exploring the Rouse Simmons. They will explain how they use underwater robots called remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to explore Great Lake shipwrecks. Two shipwrecks that will be featured are the 150 year old Sandusky and the Christmas tree schooner Rouse Simmons that sank in November 1912. This program will introduce everyone to the technology that is opening up the underwater world.

Tech Wednesday-Mobile Apps
2:30 pm, Wednesday, October 10
Tech Wednesdays are 30-60 minute long mini watch-and-learn classes on technical topics. They are held in the Julia Hackley Room twice a month at 2:30 pm and are free and open to the public. Feel free to bring your own laptop and follow along.


Good Yarn Knitters
5:30 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 10

Meets in the Julia Hackley Room
All levels of knitters are welcome, including beginners. Come to learn how to knit, have a problem solved, or just for camaraderie. If you are just starting out, bring a pair of size 7 or 8 needles and a light colored ball of worsted weight yarn, otherwise bring your latest project or your problem project.
