The MAMDP is an all volunteer public/private partnership between Lakeshore Health Network, Muskegon Community Health Project, Muskegon County Department of Public Works, our friends in local law enforcement and a community of local, independent pharmacies. In 2011, this pro-gram prevented over 2,500 lbs of unwanted medications from entering our wastewater and land-fill, and disposed of over 200 lbs of sharps through quarterly events alone. This latest addition of controlled medication collection at law enforcement agencies adds to the existing daily non-controlled pharmacy collection program that has been in place for over a year. Both efforts allow MAMDP to provide a more convenient, reliable and responsible disposal program for Muskegon County residents. Procurement and promotion of the new secure drop boxes has made possible through the generous support of the Environmental Endowment Fund of the Community Founda-tion for Muskegon County.
