Today we have a guest blogger, Joanne Dickinson, the New Initiatives and Innovations Officer in the Center for New Media and Promotions at the U.S. Census Bureau. Do you know the population count of the United States or want to learn your state's resident population? How about the number of Representatives your state has in the U.S. House? Congress has charged the Census Bureau with doing the arithmetic to compute the number of Members in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the Census Bureau will release the first results of the 2010 Census today.

The Census Bureau has an interactive map that shows how population change, population density, and apportionment have changed over the last 100 years. It looks to me like our population has been changing and moving a lot over the last 100 years, and I expect to hear about more changes in the data that’s going to be released today.
