USA Today runs down 10 of the most common last-minute errors that people make on their taxes before they file for April 15. While they might seem obvious, putting down the incorrect Social Security number could cost you an exemption. If you're planning to file electronically, another important number to double-check is your bank information on the statement. It could be a costly error if you have a refund and it lands in someone else's bank account.

You also don't have to wait for next year to claim donations that you made this year. If you made charitable contributions toward toward the Haiti disaster this year, contributions made Jan.12 through Feb. 28 of this year can also be deducted on your 2009 return. Last, after all the attention paid to detail on your taxes, your brain may hit a snafu on the most important thing to do of all: So be sure you sign your return. (Remember, even if your taxes were prepared by someone else, you still need to sign it or it's not a valid return.)
